This crisp, mouthwatering English bubbly is an ode to the pelegrims (or pilgrims as we call them today) that have walked along the Pilgrims Way, which goes right past the vineyard, for several centuries. This classic cuvée is the essence of English sparkling wine: filled with aromas of wild strawberries and crisp green apples. With the classic trio of sparkling wine grapes - Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier - its an inviting, easy-drinking English bubbly from the excellent portfolio of Westwell made by former music producer Adrian Pike.
Serving Suggestions
Serve well chilled in a sparkling wine flute. This is a bright and refreshing sparkling wine with a pleasing, easy-to-enjoy finish that makes a great aperitivo to be served early in the evening or with weekend brunch. If you fancy trying your hand at a sparkling cocktail with this, take an English spin on the French 75 (a Soixante Quinze): chill some gin in a cocktail shaker with ice, a splash of syrup and a squeeze of fresh lemon. Strain it into your wine flute, pour over a glass of chilled Westwell Pelegrim and garnish with a lemon peel. Perfect for a party!
Tasting Notes
Poised and refreshing, this is a very English bubbly with aromas of cider apples, lemon sherbet, spring blossoms and wild strawberries with notes of sourdough bread from three years ageing on the lees.
