Made from 18/8 stainless steel, our barware uses the more premium steel in the hospitality industry. Despite this high end construction, plated steel requires great care to maintain it to a high standard. While a metallic plating is formed on to the steel, it is still a separate entity. As such you must take great care when washing to ensure the coating is not scratched off.
Using plated items
When an item is plated with copper, gold, or rose gold, it is purely for aesthetic purposes. These coatings do not enhance the performance of your barware. If you want to maintain the appearance of your plated barware then you will have to treat it with great care when mixing drinks. Banging a plated item around your bar top, or against other barware will almost certainly lead to scratches on the surface.
Hand wash only
Plated items are not dishwasher safe, and must always be hand washed. Placing plated items in a dishwasher will increase the chances of the plating getting worn off.
Washing guidelines
- Wash with warm, soapy water
- Use a soft cloth or sponge - an abrasive cloth will leave scratches on the surface
- Leave to air-dry - drying cloths can retain grease and spread germs
